Devore avoids no-brainers at the expense of lifesaving

Posted December 5th, 2012 in Shelters and tagged , , , by Josh

What are the no-brainers? Publicly displaying the kennel cards and allowing a volunteer program. Devore does neither.

  1. Also, Devore does not allow animals to have blankets or towels to sleep on.  They are completely outside shelter with only concrete for the animals to sleep on.  It gets very cold out at Devore.  When I was there in April the weather was so bad that we could see our breath.  I have even seen an animal frozen to the ground.  This must change.  Devore staff say them not allowing blankets is for the health of the dogs because they worry about the animals chewing on the blankets and swallowing threads.  MY THOUGHTS – SOUNDS LIKE DEVORE DOESN’T WANT TO DO LAUNDRY!! Many people have taken and offered to keep the shelter supplied with donated blankets and towel, they have even offered to wash all the dirty linens.  Still DEVORE DOES NOT ALLOW THESE SMALL COMFORTS!!! 🙁

Doug Smith also said that if they shred the blankets, it can clog the drainage system. LMAO Dear God….WHEN will this place be FORCED to CHANGE!!!? It’s evil!

  2. […] what is in a kennel card?” from back in December of last year. This post aimed to belittle my points that I had made days earlier, and talk about how kennel cards were apparently useless things that provided no legitimate value […]

we were going to rescue a lil guy named Cameron today he was on hold and our puller was there and DOUG SMITH of this slaughter house so to speak refused to release him stating he was to aggressive all because Cameron barked back at a dog who barked at him first. this came from mr smiths own mouth over the phone when i spoke to him. i asked and requested at least let our puller be back there when he put this baby down so he would know he was loved and cared for. this man called it death row where these babys are and he seriously needs to be out of a job for what he has done.

Has this man been fired? Why hasn’t he been replaced by someone who legitimately wants to find homes and care for these animals? There has to be plenty of people out there willing to take over this shelter. Heartbreaking.

It’s time to take serious action. I will not rest until this place is shut down and restructured. If you are with me, please contact me. We do not digger. We will not forgive. We are legion. Expect us.
